VRPN support

Quazar3D Immersive supports Virtual-Reality Peripheral Network (VRPN), a device-independent and network-transparent system for accessing virtual reality peripherals in VR applications.

Your applications are ready to be used on many peripherals due to a set of classes within a library and a set of servers that are designed to implement a network transparent interface between application programs and physical devices used in a virtual reality system.

VRPN provides connections between the application and devices by using the appropriate class-of-service for each type of a device. It is possible to use VRPN with devices that are directly connected to the machine that the application is running on, either by using separate control programs or running all as a single program.

VRPN provides:

  1. Unified interface to input devices (motion trackers, joystick)
  2. Time-stamping of data
  3. Clock-synchronizing of clients and servers
  4. Multiple simultaneous access to peripheral devices
  5. Automatic reconnection of failed servers
  6. Storage and playback of sessions
